The optic nerve is the part of the eye that is responsible for connecting the eye to the brain. It will carry the impulses created by the retina to the brain. Once the impulses are brought to the brain they are dispersed throughout the brain. The brain will then interpret these impulses as images. The optic nerve is found in the very back of the eye. If you think of a tadpole, the tail of the tadpole would be the optic nerve. The optic nerve is created by more than one million nerve fibers.
